10/20/2026 — Sore Throats, Tea, and Local Marketing

Good Morning Adventurers, I hope that everyone is doing much better than I am right now. Got a bit of a sore throat developing right now and the tea that I am drinking to help combat that feeling is barely helping. Yet here I am, stil up and at’em, still writing and contemplating life. Now, before this sore throat started to settle in, I had the chance to visit the “Renaissance Festival” that had been put on in the mall nearby. I only mention this because out of all the vendors there, it was the amount of local indie/self published authors that really stood out to me.

So if I remember correctly, there were about six vendors at this little festival that were specifically Indie/self published authors. Which had me a little surprised honestly, partially because there was hardly any the last time the mall held an event. Now, I did not peruse all of the books that were available for various reasons, but I did pick up one.

Somehow, as I walked around the event, I found the one epic fantasy novel among all the other indie published books. Guess I subconsciously knew that this was the kind of book that I would read. Anyways, I haven’t started reading the book yet, but I do want to talk about this little interaction that I did have with the author.

So there’s the book that I purchased, “Bearers of the Sacred Seven,” by A.K. Delaney. The author herself was quite lovely of a person to talk to, and it was very evident that she was passionate about what she had written. I’ll also admit that her story intrigued me because I don’t think I have ever seen a book about siblings being the chosen one’s to complete the quest. Most of the novels(that I have seen/read) have been about found families and creating something out of nothing. So that alone helped appeal to me, and the other part being the fact that the siblings must work together to recover a lost book.

The idea of a lost book that needs to be found is also really cool, very reminiscent of a Dungeon and Dragons quest item. If anything, this sounds like a mini adventure/task that my parents would have sent my siblings and I on when we would go to the library as kids. This book even has a map on the inside of the copy that I purchased, and like everyone else who is interested in fantasy novels, that was one of the first things that she showed off.

Now, after chatting with the author, it is clear that she takes inspiration from epic fantasy like Tolkien, and she evidently wants to see her work turned into a movie. A dream that I hope is eventually successful for her, because she is clearly passionate about what she is doing. Of all the authors at the event, she was the only one(that I remember) that had only one book for sale at her table. The other authors had multiple books for sale, stand alones and sequels to all of the books that they had written. Maybe that’s what also attracted my eye, that she was only trying to focus on the one book, though she did talk to me about the sequel book that she was in the process of writing at the moment.

Either way, this one interaction was really fun and I need to get my but in gear so I can join the tables of these other authors that are doing what I would love to do. I feel like the little mermaid singing, “I want to be, where the people(authors) are.” So this weekend has been a bit of motivation booster for me, and I’ll be using that to help myself dedicate more time to writing this week. So even if you are feeling tired, never give up on pursuing that dream of yours adventurer. Even if it seems so far away, keep on chasing it. That’s why it’s an adventure, and your the one living it. Keep on going adventurer and I’ll see you in the next post.
