6/30/2026 — Grim, Last of the Nine

Good Morning Adventurers, how has it been this last week? Mine has been filled with examining my characters and how they shape the story that I am writing. This week we are going to take a look at our main character for Project: Dancing Night. I do want to give a shout out to my wife, because she is the one who originally inspired me to write this character. Well, it was more of a challenge, to be fair. Anyways, let’s dive in and take a look at Grim, Last of the Nine.

First off, some lazy writing techniques where I post a few photos of somethings that have already been written in order to have less of a wordy screen. So here is the little blurb that talks about Grim and who he is. I’ve also included a picture that points out the big guys physical traits.

Ok, so I had to go with only the bio for now, otherwise both of the pictures would take up way to much space before I could write one sentence. First thing that I’d like to point out is that Grim ain’t human. He was created by the gods in order to act as their chosen warriors. This group of warriors were known as “The Nine,” because, well, there were nine of them. Specifically, the nine were created to fight against a being known as The Night, and they did succeed in their mission. However, the cost of this battle scattered the survivors.

If you examine the poem that I had written a few months ago, you will see that I had actually placed these details in the stanzas. If you want to read the entire poem, then click this link to read it on my instagram. Otherwise, we will only be looking at the last three stanzas from the poem.

What passion ails us, sanctioning our downfall?

What deceit we’ve been sold, our duty now an insult?

What purpose did we serve, only to become deaths thrall?

The Seventh weeps alone, climbing the Torn Spire.

The Eighth is a mystery, who walks with blade afire.

The Ninth now wields the pen, to record all that transpired.

Now they walk alone, bearing the shame of their failure.

Now they are dusk’s Harbingers, no longer our saviours.

Now they roam in dark, forever with danger.

Looking at the bolded line, I want to first point out that this line is specifically about Grim. Why is he a mystery? Well, if you had read the poem you can interpret it as the writer had not gotten to know Grim when recording these events in time. That is also part of the reason why I chose to start with him first. He is the one that the reader knows about the least, but will be the one to kick off this entire saga of novels that I want to write. What this line does point out is his blade that can be set ablaze. As you can see, I don’t have any pictures(yet) of this happening, but I hope to have some in the future.

Now, looking back at the bio, I mentioned that he is the biggest of his siblings. Yeah, that was intentional. He is literally a giant, clocking in at a hundred and one inches or 8 Ft. and 4 In. Part of the reason why I wanted Grim to be this huge is part of the reason why I am writing this fantasy-romance in the first place. Men, often times, feel like the biggest guy in the room even if they are not. However, on the inside, we obviously have our scars and inadequacies and flaws. So Grim is meant to be an outward expression of that. I want men to read this story and feel like they can relate to him because he may reflect the parts of what every man may want.

Grim is the warrior, the warrior that slays monsters and creatures bigger than him with ease. He’s the warrior that other men see and know that if they mess with him, they will lose. That’s who he is, The Warrior. However, if you had read the poem and the last paragraph of the the bio, I specifically point out that there are scars and resentments that still linger in his life. These scars, both physical and non, push him onwards to continue his hunt for other creatures of darkness. It’s also part of the reason why he is not with his brothers, because it is easier to run away from the pain than it is to face it. Which is something that we as humans often do, especially men.

So he’s a giant warrior, who continues to throw himself into the metaphorical fire and still hasn’t died yet, why? Well, that’s because despite his pain, there is still a desire to know. He is searching for an answer that can only be given to him by one of the divine beings that created him. However, since they’ve completed their mission, they have lost all contact with them and he wants to know why. So he seeks out pockets of darkness, hoping to find answers or to get the attention of his creators. Yet, after thousands of years of searching, he still has not received any sort of revelation.

Now, you may ask, “Why is Grim, this gigantic warrior, in a romance novel?” Well, that’s for you to figure out when I complete and publish this novel. So I’ll leave you with this question, “How will this warrior fall in love with Zaya, the Unbroken? How will these two characters interact with each other on their journey?” Have a blessed day and week, Adventurers, and I’ll see you all next week!
