5/26/2026 – Summer Plans

Good Morning Adventurers,

I hope that you all have enjoyed your memorial weekend, I know that I have. Didn’t really do much but relax and grade dozens of essays. So the brain is fried and I didn’t do much writing this weekend because of it. However, it’s the beginning of a new week, school is almost out, and I’m heading to Chicago this coming weekend. So here’s what I got for you today:

  • Summer Plans
  • Chicago Bound

Summer Plans

Back in january, I set a goal for myself and that was to finish and self-publish a book by this summer. The intention was for that to be completed at the beginning of summer, but alas, life has a way of altering those plans. So instead of the beginning of summer, that goal has shifted to be completed by the end of summer. Between teaching and rugby injuries, much of my time has been given to work and recovering. Even this past week/weekend was dedicated to grading papers all because my students are getting close to summer break.

So here is the updated plan that I am laying out for myself this summer:

  • June — Finish Project: Dancing Knight with at least one complete rewrite.
  • July — Edit & Revisions & Beta Readers; Begin Self-Promotion & Ads; Schedule Release Date
  • August — Publish & Release On Selected Markets (Amazon, Kindle, Barnes & Noble, etc.)

There is still much to be finished but I’ll take advantage of my mostly empty summer just to complete this goal. Since I won’t be leaving for work in the mornings, I’ll have more time to write nonstop. So look forward to hearing more updates about my book, potential spots for beta readers, maybe an arc copy or two, and finally—a published novel.

Chicago Bound

I’ve briefly mentioned this before, but I am just going to repeat it because I am so dang excited. This is the second time I get to partake in this tournament, and like last year, I’ll have a blast again. My wife and I will be traveling down this thursday, but the tournament will not begin until saturday when we play our first game. Then win or lose, we’ll have a second game on sunday. Then it’s back home to the real world where I’ll close out the school year for the summer.

I think we have a better chance this time around than last year. Last year we had the talent but we lacked the cohesion to play well with the team that was put together. This years group actually feels like a team, like we’ve been playing together and not against each other all these years. Last year, we had lost both of our games, but this year I think we have a solid chance on winning at least one, if not both of the games. So, I look forward to sharing with you guys next week our success.

Now, depending on how well I play, there is a small chance that the Midwest Thunderbirds could reach out and ask me to play with them. Would I like that, sure, that would be really cool. However, I am not going to be all torn up if that doesn’t happen. The whole reason why I play now is to help keep my body in shape, to stay strong, and increase the longevity of my life well beyond the late stages of life. So if this helps keeps me going, then that is exactly what I am going to be doing. Who knows how long we have on this earth, and God willing—it will be a long one.

With that said, I want to say that not all plans go accordingly.  Sometimes we need to reroute and take a new path. In this case, some goals need to be pushed back due to advents getting in the way. Thats ok though, I’m not upset. I have a start, i got character Art, and I know what i want to do with this story. Now I just need to complete it. That’s the Adventurers way, learning to adapt to whatever life through at us. So have a blessed day, adventurers, and I’ll see you guys again next week.
