Good Morning Adventurers,
So it’s once again another beautiful morning filled with coffee and a very sore body. Well the first have is the usual, the second half of that last sentence is not. Yeah, I am very sore from my rugby game that I had on saturday. Yet, I still persist on writing this updates. So here is today’s latest update:
- Grim – Revealed!
- New Writing Contest
- Rugby Season – Spring Beginnings
Grim Revealed
For those of you unaware—I have finally revealed the artist and character art for the protagonist in Project: Dancing Night. I’m not going to lie…I really love it. I think @lizaisdrawing did a wonderful job at really getting to the essence of who the character is. So if you haven’t already checked out some of her artwork, I highly recommend that you take a look at her instagram.

One of the biggest details that I love about this drawing is how she drew the brigandine armor. At first, the fauld(the skirt looking part) was just going to cover the upper thighs, but after looking at it again, I really wanted it to completely wrap around him and fall to his knees. In a way, this change is purely aesthetic but also in line for the character. Think about it, Grim is a character who has been traveling around the world for a very long time. So the type of armor is going to match his ability to travel. Is he always wearing it, no, but this type of armor is going to be much easier to maintain that full plate.
I also love how she drew the chainmail and sword. How the gray metal really stands out against the brown of the clothing. Man, this really gets my hyped to keep on writing this guys story. There are a few other details that I have yet to reveal, and I need to make another post or two just to reveal them. Details like how tall he is(because he is literally a giant of a man) and what his mission is in the setting of the story. I’ll also make another post sharing some of the sketches that were shared with me just to show how the character was designed. So keep an eye out for future posts on my social media about this guy.
New Writing Contest
Alright, as it says in the title, I have decided to enter into another writing contest. This a contest that I have been looking at for a while now, but have only just decided to pay the entrance fee. What’s the name of the contest? Well funny enough, it is called “Writing Battle.”
It’s a unique contest were essentially the stories that are submitted (depending on their many contests) can be judged by other professional judges or by the community itself. The prompt that you received is based on a drawn card system. Don’t worry if you don’t know what I mean by that. I have provided a picture for your convenience.

So as of right now, this is my prompt. I have to write an urban fantasy short story with a lumberjack as a character using a church for the setting. The story also needs to have a word count between 1,500 and 2,500 words, not that that will really be a problem. Finally, the countdown timer is ticking and I only have about five days remaining to submit my story. So I’ll begin writing it today and have it submitted (hopefully) by this friday.
I’m not sure when the judging will end or how they will announce the winners, but I will strive to keep you guys updated. No matter the results, when the contest ends and the results are announced, I will post that story to my website. Who knows, if I keep on entering these contests, I’ll probably end up making a specific page dedicated to the specific pieces of writing. I’ll also probably include the results of said contest along with any sort of feedback that I may receive from the judges. Either way, I am really looking forward to the fun that I’ll have from writing this short story.
Rugby Season – Spring Beginnings
So I’ve mentioned this in earlier posts but I want to mention it again—rugby Season is back in full swing. We’ve just had our first match of the season this past weekend and it was brutal. I’ll admit, part of that is cause I’ve seriously slacked on the cardio training. Combine that with bad weather and a Grade 1 torn quad and of course my endurance is going to be in the tank. Yet, I still lived and played on. I came close to scoring again, but a friend of mine on the opposing team hooked my ankles right before the try zone. Super bummed because I was the only guy on our team to score against this team last time around, and I was trying to do that again. Alas, we can’t always have what we want though.
Anyways, a few takeaways from this are:
- A. Work on my cardio. Enough said. I have a bike at home or I can hit the rowing machine at the gym. Either option is great for building my cardio, I just need to get out there and do it.
- B. Body is sore and a bit stiff but it took the beating well and I walked away with only scrapes on my right calf and thigh from sliding around. Quad held up fine and felt great, so thats a big plus there. I still need to curate a post game stretch routine, but otherwise my body feels fine.
- C. I need to practice my form more for the scrum, in order to better protect my body, neck, and back from playing as a prop. I was able to talk with the opposing teams coach and learn a little bit more on how to improve. One of the biggest things that he’s recommended was strengthening my core muscle. He pointed out how these muscles are what’s crucial in supporting my back against the immense pressure and strain put onto me when I’m in the front row
- D. I can’t say it enough, but man do I love this sport. From the friends that I have made, to all of the places that I’ve got to see, I just can’t get enough of this sport. I highly recommend it for anyone who has been looking for something to do or need to fill in your life. It’s a ton of fun and of course, you get to hit some people while still calling them friends after the match.
