3/17/2026 – Distractions & Progress

Good Morning Adventurers,

I don’t really have much that I want to say this morning. I’m excited to just jump in and begin talking about this past week. So let’s break it down and recap what has been happening since my last post:

  • Rugby Season
  • New Short Story
  • Update – Project: Dancing Night

Rugby Season

Alright, if you are new or have not checked out my “About the Author” page, you would know that I am an active rugby player. For you rugby nerds out there, my position is a prop. The real question is why am I mentioning it in my post this fine morning? Well, that’s because I think it’s only fair to mention anything that may slow down my work.

As of right now, we practice in the evening on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Our games typically take place on Saturdays, but our first match isn’t until April. Does this really impact my work schedule, not really, but it may affect how much writing I get done. Essentially, I am trying to provide myself with some grace just in case I break my habit of writing daily or accidently missing an update post here.

So not a really big update, but still worth mentioning here. Moving On.

New Short Story

So, yesterday I had realized that I have not written a short story in a while. So after scrolling through reddit, I have found a word prompt that I really liked. I actually liked it so much that I began to write while at work. I mean, it’s not that difficult to do so when I was writing on a pad of yellow legal paper. Nobody is going to look at what I was writing, nor would they really question why I was writing on it. I mean, who would question someone who looks like they are working.

Well, I was working, just also writing with the little free moments that I would get between tasks. Anyways, here is the writing prompt that I am using as inspiration:

Every century it’s different, in one you’re considered a protector of the forest, guiding the lost home. The next they blame every disappearance on you, the devil of the woods. You never changed, but they did.

So, keep an eye out for a new short story to be posted onto reddit, my social media, and here. Not going to lie, I’m having a ton of fun writing this short story. The ending is, hopefully, going to have a great twist that will surprise the readers. I don’t expect it to be a hit on reddit, but I am looking forward to just sharing it when I am done. Man, I need to get back to writing short stories, those are a ton of fun to write. Maybe when I take some more time to write some more short stories, just to help prevent burnout.

Update – Project: Dancing Night

Finally, what you(hopefully) have been waiting for. This update isn’t really a big one, but it is something. As of right now, I am about fifteen percent of the way through the story. I haven’t made much progress, due to the fact that I went and rewrote the whole first chapter. I’ve been battling with writing this story in both first and third person. I know that much of this story is essentially going to be plot driven, however the characters are going to evolve as well.

Third person works really well for stories that are more plot driven, but first person perspective also works really well for character driven stories. So essentially, the voice of the story and the characters voices are battling for control of the story and I haven’t settled on the one that I prefer. I also haven’t settled on the idea of sticking to one characters perspective, or if I will switch it up between the male and female main characters.

The story itself has been outlined completely, and I know how I want it to end. I have changed a few things, mainly the setting and cultural factors of the people in the area, but that’s all. I just need to write and get the story out. Maybe that’s what I’ll do, just keep on writing and get the complete story out first. I can settle on voice and perspective after I get the entire story out. Yeah, that’s what I am going to do.

Ok, I’m going to sign off now as I am beginning to ramble. Not a huge update today, but it is something to keep the habit going. I know that this update may also say a whole lot of nothing, but I also need to be kind to myself and say that not every update needs to be a big “something.” So I hope that, despite its shortness, you still enjoyed my coffee induced ramblings.

So until next time, have a blessed day and continue seeking out adventure in everything that you do, Adventurer.
