Good Morning Adventurers,
As I sit here drinking my coffee, I just want to point out how interesting it has been developing my social media accounts. I’m not sure who is reading my simple posts, but I do want to point out that it takes quite a bit of effort. So I have a newfound appreciation to the people that take the effort in order to become a social media influencer. I do need to point out though that it is not my intention to become a influencer. My social media is only meant to draw attention to my short stories and eventually, hopefully by this summer, my books.
Social media is a lot different than just writing a blog post. Which, let’s be honest, is exactly what these weekly posts essentially are in essence. However, these posts also double as writing practice. They keep my mind fresh as I practice getting up and simply start typing away. By doing this, it helps clear my mind as well as get the creative juices in my mind flowing. Anyways, let’s get back onto the topic of social media.
Ok, so I have shared here the current statistics of what a business profile shows you on instagram. I’ve had this account for over a year now, but it’s only been these last two months that I have really put any effort into it. Outside of sharing this account to my wife and a sibling, all of the followers are people that have stumbled on my little account. Accounting for those that I’ve removed (you’d be surprised how many bots/fake accounts tried following in the beginning), it comes down to about three to five new accounts a week. My posts don’t get that much interaction, but every like and follow does make me smile.
Now, I am not sure where that falls for the rest of the people that do this sort of gig for a living, but to me this little bit of progress is a win for me. Another detail that I should point out, as of right now, that more non-followers are seeing this account than followers. This detail is important because thats what I need if I really want to grow the account and bring attention to my writings.
~~ Writing Update ~~
Ok, time to talk about what I have been doing. First off, if you haven’t already read it yet, I have posted the first chapter for Project: Knight, as well as shared my thoughts on the judges review from the contest that I had submitted it to. I also went and made a post for it on instagram because I loved the results so much, despite not even coming close to winning.
Next, while Project: Knight is a larger project that I have been working on for a while, I actually have been focusing on a different project at the moment. I’ve mentioned it a few times here in my posts as well as on instagram. Specifically, I’ve been working on fleshing out the characters, creating the how and why they are in the story, and keeps the two characters together. To put it simply, this will be a Fantasy-Romance story with (hopefully) the length of a novella(<35K Words).
With where I am at in putting this story together, I’d say it is at about 10% done. I really need to get to actually writing out the story, but as I’ve mentioned in a previous post, all of this pre-writing really helps me in writing it out. I don’t have an official name for the project yet, but I hope to have it by the end of the week as well as a better description.
Finally, I have been looking into commissioning a map for the continent/world that I intend to write many of my stories in. Well, I already have it drawn, but that one was made by me and I am no artist. So I’ll keep you updated on where I go with that because it will not be cheap if I want a nice one, and it will cost even more if I want to purchase the business rights(I think thats what it’s called) to use them in official works.
Ok, I think that is everything. So have a blessed day Adventurers, and keep on seeking out adventure in everything that you do.
