12/24/2025 – Goals

About three weeks ago, I entered a writing contest for the first time. Spent all day working on that because I procrastinated and submitted it just mere minutes before the deadline. It was a manuscript contest, it’s requirements being the first five pages of a manuscript. I thought, “Hey, why not. I got something that can be reworked.”

So thats what I did, I went and rewrote the beginning to a story that I hadn’t touched in a long time. In that mad rush, I wrote two-thousand, six hundred and fifteen words. Crazy since it has been a minute since I’ve put up that kind of writing. It was refreshing and I lived off of that high for the last three weeks. I enjoy writing. I really do, especially when I get an Idea lodged into my head. Just putting in the effort is difficult between all of the things that I have going on in life paired with the procrastination.

I’m in the process of creating goals. Goals that I want to achieve next year. Even if some of them fail, I still want to put them somewhere I can be reminded of them. My hope is that this will push me to continue developing that work habit. Life is only going to get more complicated, the longer I wait. Why do I wait? Maybe it’s because I’m scared, maybe it’s because I live in fear that what I write isn’t good enough. Maybe I am afraid to take that leap. However, if I don’t ever try, then how will I ever know. I have to try, I need to try, and so, I will try.

Goals

  • Develop a writing habit of 250 to 500 words a day, with a goal of at least 1,000 words a day.
  • Complete 1st Draft for ONE project that I am working on.
    • Project: Knight or Project: Lightbringer
  • The Author’s Instagram needs to be worked on so start working on posting there. It was created to help create a following in what I write. So Post there despite the nervous feeling in your gut.
  • Write TWO Novellas. Short stories that are simple and no more than 30,000 words. Publish them so that you can start creating a backlog of novels. These are simple stories, so don’t get to overly complicated.

There, I have written them down. Now, it’s time to get to work.
